Ruby Mahaffey Britt, age 79, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Dock Leo and Nancy Elizabeth “Bessie” Conner Mahaffey. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Buster Britt, her sister, Undean Beale, and her brothers, Leo and Charles Mahaffey.

Ruby was a 1954 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and a lifelong member of Rosemary Baptist Church where she was very active. She was also involved in various other community activities and volunteered in the community.

She is survived by her daughters, Andrea “Andy” Britt of the home, Kathryn B. Haislip and her husband, Johnny of Williamsburg, VA; her granddaughter, Brianna Haislip of Norfolk, VA; her twin sister, Ruth M. Taylor of Newport News, VA; and her brother, J.T. Mahaffey and his wife, Louise of Sherman, TX.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Rosemary Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with David Fambrough officiating. The family will receive friends at a visitation following the service in the church fellowship hall until 3:00 PM.
